School Field Trips
Skidaway Farms recently hosted 110 children on three separate days! Kindergarten children from Hesse School. St. Andrew’s First Graders The children worked on paper projects, a chrysalis hunt, plant identification and had lunch under the pavilion. There were 11 farm volunteers and 110 children on the three days plus lots of parents and teachers. Special thanks to Farmer Jane for organizing and our farmer volunteers. We couldn’t do it without you!
A chilly November 15th welcomed 30 first graders and their teachers from St. Andrews school on Wilmington Island to our farm. This is the 5th year that Farmer Jane has coordinated a tour of the garden, a picnic lunch and a gardening project for these youngsters.
This November was the fourth year the first graders from St. Andrew’s School on Whitemarsh Island toured the Farm to gather information to bring back to their own gardening projects at school. The children garden in raised beds at school, a part of the curriculum. Nice! Future Gardeners. A big thank you to Jane Kollman and Carol Stiles for all the work they do at the garden with the children’s programs. They are helping to establish in many a lifelong love of gardening!
On May 1st we had 26 visitors from the Presbyterian Preschool Program. A fun garden discovery tour with Farmers Jane, Carol and Jill was the first order of business! Following the tour a picnic in the pavilion 😊. To top off the field trip, the children potted a plant to give to Moms for Mothers Day. A good time was had by all!
On Wednesday 10/21, Jane Kollman and Carol Stiles hosted a field trip for students from St. Andrews School. Through a variety of activities, Jane, Carol, and their helpers gave the students a great introduction to gardening and farming, and a great time was had by all!
