With the colder forecast, the BOR has decided to move the meeting this Thursday indoors. Where: Skidaway Messiah Lutheran Church – conference room When: Thursday March 27 at 5:00 pm Take McWhorter Rd. from the Main gate towards the Farm and go left onto Ridge Rd. West – church is on the right. OR Take McWhorter Rd. from the North gate towards the village and go right onto Ridge Rd. West- church is on the right.
Early this morning, the Farm’s Maintenance Coordinator, Ralph Hinz and assistant, Tom Kollmann made their way through the fog out to the Farm to repair the broken hose bib. Once that was in-hand, they were able to turn the well pump back on…so now the flow of water has returned inside the Farm. Those of you in Sections E,F,G should check your plots as they were not watered overnight (actually early in the morning is when the overhead system normally runs) because the pump was off. Education Coordinator, Jane Kollmann’s troops have returned to the Farm! The Children’s Garden program started the Spring Season this past Saturday. Those of you who may have seen the bees forming rather large swarms this past week just outside the fence near the irrigation pump have been witness to the expansion process healthy communities of honeybees go through. When their hive population gets too large for the hive itself, a new queen is born and she takes lots of her loyal folowers off to form a new hive somewhere else. During this process, the bees are not aggressive towards us humans…in fact they could care less about us as they are satiated with honey and have other things on their mind! […]
