Do You Have A Drip System In Your PLOT?? We’re starting to see some cold weather and we know from experience that the timers can malfunction or even be permanently damaged by freezing weather. Protect Your Timer: It would be a good idea to either remove your timer or wrap it in an insulating blanket. A good layer or two of bubble wrap, or any other waterproof insulating material, well sealed at bottom and top, should protect the timer for now. Later in the season, when freezing weather is going to be more frequent, you should remove the timer and […]

(for the TLA February Journal)… The Farm’s come a long way since that cool day in February 2011 when the gates first swung open for that inaugural crowd of eager Farmers who had waited patiently to claim their plots. We went from this: To this: What a transformation! It’s true the Farm has grown up…literally…as the Farmers have learned what our Skidaway climate will tolerate…and what plants flourish even in the humid air of a Savannah summer! Peppers, okra and eggplant grow…we now know…no matter what you do to them! And, yes, tomatoes DO thrive here on Skidaway […]
Winter’s on its way so the critters are coming in closer to eat whatever they can forage….and that includes our veggies! Many of you have swamp rats on your home property, especially if you live near a marsh. Well, it’s no stretch then to hear that some Farmers have witnessed several swamp rats scurrying about the Farm recently. Given this is something we don’t want to encourage, we asked Yates-Astro to set out some rat poison boxes around the Farm to get rid of them. The rats eat the stuff … get mighty thristy and wander to the nearest source […]
