From one island to the next….

Pat Morris grew up on the Isle of Hope….a stone’s throw across the Skidaway Narrows from her plot at Skidaway Farms.  Her parents, Hugh and Betsy Jackson raised their family on the three acres they lovingly landscaped at Wymberley Point…the spot that Pat remembers was the birthplace of her love for gardening.  “My parents loved to garden…to see things grow.  My mother was one of the founders of the Wymberley Garden Club in 1952…she wanted everyone to enjoy gardening as much as she did”, Pat said.  “Now it’s my job to hand that love for growing plants down to my grandchildren!”  A sure way to get the grandkids to the Farm is to feed them after a morning of weeding and tilling the soil.  And what better place to sit them down than at the picnic table Pat has dedicated to her parents!  Sandwiches and plants…from one generation to the next…Hugh and Betsy would surely approve!   (9/20/11)
