Skidaway Farms TV debut on Flip My Food this past February inspired a group of folks and gardeners from the Sumter, South Carolina area to come on down and see first hand what our Farm is all about!
Last weekend, the Farm hosted 44 gardeners and would-be bee keepers to a morning tour of the Farm starting with a presentation on her honey bees from Farmer Dr. Barbara Phillips – nicknamed “Dr. Ra Ra” by our visitors!
After Farmer Barbara, BOR Rep, Cathy Adler gave a talk on the Farm’s history, things we grow, and programs we have in place. Then lunch was served in the pavilion followed by a walk around the plots and raised beds.
One of the visitors, Azeez Mustafa, is the first Certified organic farmer in the state of South Carolina! Check out his organization’s website here.
At the end of their tour, our visitors boarded the bus armed with gifts of plants slips and fresh lettuce!
A great time was had by all!
